CHARACTER INFOCharacter Name: Loki Lie-Smith (aka Odinson, aka Laufeyson)

AU/OC History: Some expansion on the official history since this character is based on mythology. These things have not been said either way in canon and could be considered fanon additions. In my head-canon Loki has four children, Slepnir (which happened just about how legend has it, Loki changed into a mare to lure a giant's horse away), Fenir, Jörmungandr, and Hel. The later three were not with a Jotun, like the myths say. These three were with a giantess from another realm. This rationality is because Loki does not know he is Jotun until the touch of one changes him Jotun blue. The other children he is supposed to have in the myths have not been created, yet. Nor has he been married. Many of the punishments written about in the myths have yet to be performed, as well.

Personality: Loki is the God of Mischief and Lies, which is very telling about his personality. He is not a trustworthy person, but can trick people into believing him. Even those who have known him all his life may doubt his motives and truthfulness. Loki wraps himself in his lies as a shield and tricks others to keep them away.
Loki has a brilliant mind, though, and will not lie about all things to all people. He knows he needs to keep his stories straight in order to keep suspicion down. During his time as king of Asgard he tells the Warriors Three and Sif that his father may never awaken, however, he tells Thor that his father is dead. When the group of Thor's friends go to earth to get Thor back, he sends the Destroyer to stop them since it is a major break in his plans.
The Destroyer illustrates another point. Loki told it to "Destroy everything" when it arrived on earth. However, he was in direct control of it at all times and seemed to be able to see what it saw. He allowed it to go all out on the town and on SHIELD's vehicles. He allowed it to beat the Warriors Three and Sif. However, when it came to the point where he could have slew Thor with ease, instead of using the Destroyer's main weapon which had been shown to vaporize things into molecules, he chose to simply back hand Thor. This gives Thor a fighting chance at survival. Yes, it would have killed a mortal man, however, not long before, Frigga had told Loki that there was always a purpose to Odin's actions. That would have been enough proof for Loki that Odin would not allow Thor to die.
This also shows Loki's curious side. He likes to learn and find new things. Mostly because anything, even the most menial thing, can be used to further his plans. When the group goes to Jotunheim, Volstagg asks Heimdall why the Bi-Frost can't be left open for them and is informed that to leave the Bi-Frost open would destroy Jotunheim. Loki puts this in his plans when they change to include proving himself as a worthy son.
Loki is at a point in his life where he is lost. His personality is rapidly changing based on even the smallest stimulus. He is resentful of the family he left behind on Asgard for many things. When his attempt at destroying Jotunheim fails and he pleads for some validation from Odin, believing the father-figure he loved would support the action, he feels more betrayed than before that Odin disagrees with his choice.
He is broken with all of his beliefs shattered, but even with no purpose, he is not the type to roll over and let the world take him. He's determined to find a new purpose, whatever that may be. At the point he's taken he has had nothing that would push him in any direction. He was raised as a prince among a god-like people, and that is at the core of his values and beliefs. He is more likely, if asked to help people, to help them and try to win his father's love that way, than to harm them. However, he has no respect at this point for anyone, except Odin.
His feelings for Odin are split in two. He loves Odin as his father and was distressed when he suddenly fell into the Odinsleep upon being confronted by Loki's anger about finding out his heritage. He also hates Odin for hiding this from him and lying to him. He desires Odin's love and respect, and believes himself doomed to never receive it. However, he is not so broken as to not try if presented with an opportunity.
Powers: Loki is a sorcerer of unmatched power. He prefers illusions and tricks to outright magical battles. He can make copies of himself, though, they tend to vanish when hit. These copies are realistic enough to speak and make lifelike expressions. He is capable of magical movement similar to teleporation. It has been shown that he can move himself between worlds without the use of the Bi-Frost, which others from Asgard need, and can move others through these methods. He is capable of hiding himself so well that even the all-seeing eyes and all-hearing ears of Heimdall cannot see or hear him. He stores objects, magically, such that he can transport objects at least as large as the Cask of Ancient Winters and summon it at will.
As any other Aesir or Jotun, Loki has an incredible life spam and a form of immortality. This is not a perfect immortality, Aesir and Jotun are both capable of dying, but they have longer lives and can recover from wounds that would kill a human. They are capable of aging, as well.
Other Details: Other than magic, Loki is also capable of fighting. He prefers staves and throwing knives to other weapons. His fighting style is full of quick movements and tricks. He does not use brute strength often and prefers to keep his enemies at a distance to best utilize his knives.
SAMPLESHave a DM entry of Loki complaining about not being in a game(1)
And because I was not sure when I would be taking him from (2)
have a couple of Test-Drive threadsAny Concerns: Some may worry about the time frame I'm taking him from, but it was partially to prevent spoiling people who haven't had a chance to see
The Avengers and also because he has better chance for some really good character development. He will rapidly become a bit AU
